VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Steve|DATE|1357636170|CONTENT|It's the same view of equality that the CofE currently holds - that women are differently equal. It's not equality by any measure. Equality is when men and women can choose freely to do whatever job, whatever hobby, whatever role they like, with no barrier. That's not to say that women must want to be engineers, only that engineering is an option provided equally.

[blockquote]Dare I suggest that the culture of sports may be part of that mindset?[/blockquote]

You can suggest it, but it's a fairly old-fashioned view of sport, especially post-2012. I'm pretty sure we celebrated Kath Grainger and Jessica Ennis as much as Mo Farah and Bradley Wiggins. If anything, the culture of sports reflects society's attitude to women, rather than being a cause of that attitude. I have two sons - they both play rugby and cricket. My friend has a son and a daughter - the son plays rugby and cricket, whereas the daughter does ballet. And rugby. The sports clubs I've been associated with have none of the lingering sexism Indarjit Singh thinks is equality.|IP-ADDRESS|10.0.119.228, 217.36.222.79, 10.37.24.202|MODERATIONFLAG|
