NASA thinks there might be 17 billion earth like planets in our galaxy. This is such a stupendous, ginormous, humongous, mega-bigness number that my head just fairly spins with its utter vastness.

In 1600, the Church burned Giordano Bruno for speculating that the sun might be just another star and that there might be countless other planets out there. I'd just like to say that NASA has nothing to fear. We don't do that sort of thing nowadays, mainly because we're not allowed to.

As we gaze out at the wonders of the universe, and contemplate its stupendous, ginormous, humongous, mega-big utter vastness that makes one's head just fairly spin, one is led to consider the really important questions like: is my religion right after all? Given its track record of wrongness with people like Bruno, who turned out to be almost spot on after all, I'm forced to conclude that, yes, clearly my religion is still right.

Now that the stupendous, ginormous, humongous, mega-big utter vastness that makes one's head just fairly spin has been revealed to us by science, does the conceit that the Invisible Magic Friend created it just for us still stand up to scrutiny? Again I would have to say, yes, because otherwise I would clearly be wrong and me sitting here telling you this would be me making a complete fool of myself.

If there is intellgient life somewhere out in space would they recognise us as intelligent? If they heard that a major news and current affairs programme was interrupted each day to tell you the view of the Invisible Magic Friend, probably not.
