VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Matt2112|DATE|1357726722|CONTENT|I may have posted this before here some time ago, but this abject TftD has prompted the memory again: when I was at my Catholic secondary school (complete with its sickeningly graphic anti-abortion propaganda prominently displayed in the dinner hall), a nun came in to talk to a small group of us and asked us to write any questions we had about "God", anonymously, on a piece of paper. She read each one out in turn and provided a response (if not, as it turned out, an actual answer).

My question was: if there are countless planets in the Universe with intelligent life, did Jesus only come to Earth, and if so, why? If not, did the events as told in the NT also happen on all these other planets so that the whole Universe knew about Jesus?

She found it an interesting question. Her long-winded and incoherent answer boiled down to that it could only have happened here because that's how God in his wisdom made it so. Why? Well that was a "mystery", because that's how God in his wisdom works.

And that was it.

I remember being terribly unsatisfied with this (and I remain so) as obviously it simply begged more and more questions. So you've got to hand it to Mr Banner, as this morning he trumped that nun for the number of glaring fallacies blithely shoehorned into such a short amount of time.

On that basis, I can't hesitate giving this one the full 5 marks. And a Clemmie nomination.|IP-ADDRESS|80.177.151.74|MODERATIONFLAG|
