VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Dinah|DATE|1357727780|CONTENT|It's funny how the Rev Drs scientific and intellectual curiosity never extends to his god. Doesnt he ever ask himself how this entity came into being, who or what created it, what it is made of, where it lives and what it has for breakfast?

It is more frustrating because there is no mechanism for listeners to reply to or question TFTD speakers. I would like the Rev Dr to tell us if he believes in the supernatural. Does he think, for example, that despite the total lack of evidence for the existence of the supernatural, that his god is a supernatural being who can if it chooses subvert or override the laws of the Universe it (allegedly) created? If he doesnt believe in the supernatural, is his god therefore some kind of super-alien, who, while it may be superior to humans in all sorts of ways, is still subject to the laws of the Universe? If the latter, then can such an entity be accurately described as a god, any more than an explorer discovering a tribe of hunter-gatherers would be a god, even though he or she might appear god-like to them?

The problem with scientists who believe in a god is that it seems to encourage a kind of intellectual laziness on the lines of oh the Universe is all so vast and big we puny little humans will never understand how it works and it would be pointless and arrogant to try so lets just say goddidit. This is more or less what we got today, and not that far from the attitude which led to poor Bruno being roasted alive in the days when the Church had the power to do that sort of thing.
