The full outcome of events in Algeria have yet to be revealed.

Many questions will be asked about how this happened, but chief among them is why some groups think that a percieved injustice done to them can be remedied by killing others? What's really scary is that they're a bunch of religious nutters and we all know how deranged they can be!

I just want to make it absolutely clear that there is nothing, absolutely nothing, in the religion of Islam that could in any way be responsible for the way Islamic militants behave. As a Church of England bishop from Norwich, let me just assure you that they have completely misunderstood what Islam is all about. Anyone would think there was a command to kill the unbelievers. Thankfully, neither Islam nor Christianity has any such verses in its holy books, so I don't know where these people get their ideas from.

Christianity's Big Book of Magic Stuff has got lots of nice bits in it. The Sermon on the Mount is a nice bit, all about doing good to those who hate you and that sort of thing. The fact that the British people aren't crying out for murderous vengeance against some scapegoat group right now is proof that they like to follow the nice bits from the Big Book of Magic Stuff. It's got nothing to do with the fact that, in a post-religious country, such tribal animosities have largely disappeared.
