After much thought, I decide to talk to you about the army. I might mention other people who often deal with traumatic experiences, like police officers, but mainly I'd like to talk to you about the army. The army and Jesus - what a perfect combination. God, how I miss being in the army. Ordinary civvies just don't understand what it's like.

Someone asked Prince Harry what it was like to kill someone. Unfortunately he opened his mouth and spoke. We all know that our soldiers are brave and daring and give sweets to grateful children. No one imagined that they sat in helicopter gunships spraying thousands of rounds of live ammunition from rapid fire, high calibre, machine guns at people on the ground. Now Prince Harry's gone and told everyone, and boy is he getting it from the PC brigade.

I never used to mention details like that in my letters home. Helicopter gunships weren't a big feature in them. You might think that a Christian would be a bit more candid. After all, it's a well known fact that we Christians are more truthful and generally more moral than everyone else. As a Christian, I knew that we regularly killed people from helicopter gunships, I just didn't like to talk about it.

As Saint Paul said, "Always the tell the whole truth, all the time." Which I interpret as "Occasionally tell some of the truth when convenient, or when you're in danger of being found out."

So don't be too hard on Prince Harry for telling you what soldiers do in Afghanistan.
