Jerry Coyne's book really is excellent. I keep this in mind when sometimes I want creationists to just shut up. They actually have done us a service, because they would say things like, 'yes, but then how could the eye evolve, it has to be all there or it is useless', and that spurs people to investigate, and now we have an excellent account of how the eye evolved. Jerry Coyne does a great job of talking about what genetics tells us too, about the evolution (and re-evolution in the case of NY monkey, eg) of colour vision, and genes as a kind of fossil record. This is my field (I have a D.Phil in behavioural ecology and my thesis was a lot about evolution of signalling systems), and still I learned a great deal from it.|EMAIL|alunap@mac.com|IP-ADDRESS|170.148.198.157|MODERATIONFLAG|
