VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Edwin|DATE|1359748667|CONTENT|Those who raise the "mongrel race" cry to criticise anybody that suggests we have an English culture and identifiable regional cultures are mostly speaking nonsense. Having raised the race issue they can hardly complain if the facts of the case are examined.

Large swathes of the population having DNA indicating residence of ancestors in the general area of Britain since the last Ice Age. A tranche of possible more Nordic and Germanic from the Dark Ages although most of these may have had a far longer residence. Then a leavening of minorities since but not the complete mixture that is indicated by the word mongrel. See Barry Cunliffe "Britain Begins".

It cannot be denied that some immigration has been beneficial but that cannot give rise to the "some immigration good" therefore "all immigration good" syllogism. What is certain is that in any ethnic displacement there will be strains and resentments and for those who, rightly or wrongly, feel displaced it only exacerbates their resentment if they are accused of fascism et al if they voice their resentment.

One wonders if new British citizens ever think of the different states of things from the countries they have left where inter-racial, inter-communal and inter-religious violence appear endemic, partly from the mores they wish to import to Britain.

Here is a problem that I do not see a solution too. If a lot of Poles and Muslims are anti-semitic then the level of anti-semitism rises in Britain is the fault ours because we did not prevent immigration or because we have not emphasised and enforced our own "culture" or laws?
