The problems arise when we do import poisonous religious beliefs that are harmful. I often wonder if these beliefs are a threat to our culture, less because they are harmful and more because we are so determined to show how enlightened and tolerant we are that we let those who are more assertive about their religion walk all over us. With regard to Islam, it appears to me that most of the Muslims that live here just want a quiet life and although they dress in a distincive way so that they stand out somewhat, do no harm. Of course it is the noisy and destructive minority that get all the attention. I don't think that it is too out of order to say to those people, if you don't like it here we invite you to piss off to the Islamic paradise of your choice.

I wonder why there are no discussions about Chinese immigrants, their culture is totally alien to ours and so are their religions.

Regarding the OP. Cathy seems to be totally made up that Catholic immigrants are creating the illusion that Catholicism is on the up. The fact that it is obviously an illusion doesn't seem to bother her at all. I recall that Barry Duke once mentioned a discussion with some Poles who regarded getting away from Catholicism as one of the bonuses of coming to work here. |EMAIL|elizabeth@iww1967.wanadoo.co.uk|IP-ADDRESS|95.150.29.241|MODERATIONFLAG|
