VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Broga|DATE|1359806113|CONTENT|@Matt Westwood: I had the same reaction. But then I feel tha same way about so many of them.

Sorry about your sick mother. I understand the problem with Christian relatives. My late mother was an atheist. However, we had a very devout Christian relative, a cousin, outraged because my mother insisted on a Humanist funeral. I was accused of, "Twisting your mother to your way of thinking. You should be ashamed of yourself."

In fact, although my mother had been an atheist for decades she had been exposed to atheism by me and I did worry in case she might want to revert to her earlier beliefs and I was getting in the way. The exchange on this with my mother was quite funny although she was nearing death and knew it. I asked if she might want a Minister and religious funeral as we had all grown up in the Church of Scotland. The reply was, "I do not and if you put me in a church or bring a Minister near me I'll come back and haunt you."

I relayed this to my religious cousin who clearly regarded me as a liar. She did not believe anyone would "turn their face away from God" except, of course, a rabid atheist,(and by that fact evil) such as myself. The cousin did not come to the well attended funeral. |EMAIL|denis.watkins1@virgin.net|IP-ADDRESS|82.26.169.9|MODERATIONFLAG|
