Set up is quite basic. The telescope was a present from my better half about 20 years ago: 4.5&quot; mirror (which has never been cleaned and I hesitate to look at for fear of what I might find), no motor drive, 1&quot; non-standard eyepiece, camera was the cheapest DSLR I could lay my hands on (manufacturer refurbished - &lt;170, including lens, IIRC).

I don&#039;t think it&#039;s the wrinkly filter as images look very sharp through an eyepiece. The prime focus lens is certainly a very cheap plastic job and could certainly be the problem.
