I&#039;m not sure that it does. The allegations were submitted to the Vatican before the Pope&#039;s resignation on 11 Feb. It was only the day after The Observer broke the story that O&#039;Brien was forced to resign. If the press hadn&#039;t reported the issue I suspect he would have been allowed to continue until his official resignation date in March.
