VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Andy|DATE|1362472956|CONTENT|This gentleman seems to fall into the usual trap of thinking that a move away from religion is a recent development. Admittedly, the 'rationalisation' of the railways happened far more quickly and effectively than the demise of religious observance, but 50 years ago - when Beeching's axe fell and I was 13 - I (and, I assume, many others) had already moved away from the church upbringing of my childhoood; yet still there are clerics who expect deference just by virtue of their position as the local chief believer in an IMF. Rather than hope for a revival perhaps it's time they caught up with the 21st century. Hopefully, in 50 years time, their religions will be like the remaining old railways - staffed mainly by volunteers for a few enthusiasts who just remain viable by donations from mildy curious tourists who enjoy the occasional visit but don't want to join the organisation ...... on reflection, were almost there already.|EMAIL|andy@andyboden.com|IP-ADDRESS|31.51.87.43|MODERATIONFLAG|
