VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|tim555|DATE|1362646069|CONTENT|It's a long time since we heard from AAA (I think). She has been sorely missed. The rosy bien pensant view of arranged marriages is not a view I share after many years of teaching teenagers from that background. Many of the girls were desperately unhappy at the prospect. Sometimes the arrangement would be based purely on financial and other considerations to suit the family rather than the girl. Many who had been educated beyond A-level did not wish to be betrothed to someone from a remote part of Pakistan, often inferior in terms of education and with very traditional customs and culture. I do not see 'arranged marriage' as distinct and opposed to 'forced marriage' instead these marriages generally occupy an area that is somewhere inbetween. I note that AAA tells us that the wife was now wearing the traditional 'modest' clothing and the husband was sporting western style clothes.|IP-ADDRESS|2.103.0.92|MODERATIONFLAG|
