From my own experience, there are families within which similar sorts of interference happens as a matter of course.

When I was 20-ish and at college I fell into partnership with a 26-year-old single mother who attended one of the local churches (part of the same group) that my family attended. Using every single trick of emotional (and financial) blackmail at their disposal, my parents did everything they could to ensure that we did not remain a couple. I'm ashamed to say they were successful.

Many years later, they proudly showed me the wedding photograph of that bonny lass on her wedding day - how delightful it was that she had found a decent man to marry.

They could not understand my coldness towards them for the remainder of my visit, or why I cut it short by a day.|EMAIL|prime.mover@proofwiki.org|IP-ADDRESS|176.252.141.205|MODERATIONFLAG|
