There are too many poor people and too many rich people. What's more, poor people are becoming poorer and rich people are becoming richer. And I'm not just talking about foreigners here. There are too many British poor people and too many British rich people as well. I don't know what should be done about this but somebody else ought to do something about it.

This is where religion comes in, because where there is religion there are no rich people or poor people. This follows effortlessly from today's news. As cardinals begin to choose a new Pope they'll be thinking about whether to choose a traditionalist or a [strike]reformer[/strike] very traditionalist.

Above all else, they should choose a Pope who'll get rid of the evil secularism that allows all religions to worship freely without state interference and so abolish poverty.

So there. We should abolish poverty by having more religion. Even the wrong religion will do.
