VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|James|DATE|1363983667|CONTENT|I too would have gladly passed over this 'idiot's guide' to the passover.

This is actually the BBC's own description of what TFTD is meant to be, as taken from their podcast download website:

"A unique reflection from a faith perspective on topical issues and news events. Speakers from across the world's major faiths offer a spiritual insight rooted in the theology of their own tradition."

This week's five attempts so far have been very vague in their respective attempts to grasp this week's news topics and events, and they have utterly failed to offer anything resembling 'spiritual insight'. We've just had vagueness and platitudes and none has constituted an attempt to tackle key events head on.

Today's example was classic. Obama is in Israel, and you would have thought the Chief Rabbi would have seen fit to say something based on this. But no, we get a basic rundown of what passover is and what it's meant to signify.

Was he warned off? Has he exercised self-censorship. given his off-the-cuff comments on Iran a couple of years ago? Does the BBC's religious affairs department completely lack editorial nous and direction?

I'm almost ready to give up, except that I'm holding on to hear what Babbling Brook has to say about the homeless bloke who's been dossing down on his sofa.
