Has anyone mentioned Palm Sunday yet? Happy day after Palm Sunday everyone! Or should I say miserable day after Palm Sunday, because this is a week where Christians are particularly dour and serious. There's all sorts of Big Christian Festivals coming up. There's Maunday Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and then Easter Sunday.

Christians all over the world will be following the dark journey that the visible bit of the Invisible Magic Friend took on the way to sacrificing himself to himself to save us from himself.

Why, I hear you all ask, why are we all so obsessed with all the gory details of Jesus' death. It's a very good question and I'm glad you asked me it. I know you're all just desperate for the answer because you all really care. First of all, I'd just like to say the word "existential." It's a very fashionable word that everybody is using nowadays - a bit like "paradigm" in the 80s, and just as meaningful.

A loss of faith means there's no more love and everything is hopeless. This is the biggest challenge to faith and not the fact that the whole Christian message is silly and completely irrelevant.

So you see, we Christians are on a kind of pilgrimage this week. Egeria made a pilgrimage too, in the late 4th century, but that was a real pilgrimage. Ours is just a metaphorical pilgrimage, but a very real metaphorical pilgrimage nonetheless.

I thought I'd tell you all about Holy Week because there's no news today.
