VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Bernie R|DATE|1364583380|CONTENT|I have had some correspondence with Mr Aaqil Ahmed, the Head of Commissioning Magic Stuff at the BBC. I contacted him, and the BBC's Feedback programme, when Ahmed was invited on to Feedback to defend the continuing exclusion of non-religious thinkers from Thought For The Day.

The interview he gave Roger Bolton really surprised me. Aaqil Ahmed's lack of intellectual ability was painfully obvious, he was unable to express his position clearly, he had a very poor grasp of the issue he was being interviewed about, his responses to the questions put to him were jaw-droppingly inadequate: he told us that non-religious thinkers are excluded from Thought For The Day because it is a slot which excludes non-religious thinkers!

So I wrote to him and explained why his defence of his commissioning decisions was inadequate and unacceptable, and he wrote back denying any responsibility for the decision!

His performance on the Today programme this morning has done nothing to alter my extremely poor opinion of Mr Ahmed. He is clueless about the very matters he is supposed to be responsible for. He told us this morning that Thought For The Day is terribly popular, but when he was challenged to back this up he responded that it was his interviewer's job to provide the facts and figures, and that anyway she must know that it is very popular.

I suppose it's inevitable that the Chief Commissioner for Religious Broadcasting for the BBC will not be the kind of person one would wish to spend any time with, and we can at least take pleasure in the fact that this one is also amusingly ignorant and incompetent.|EMAIL|onlyhuman@btinternet.com|IP-ADDRESS|82.39.201.80|MODERATIONFLAG|
