There was an attempt, almost 100 years ago, to legislate to fix the date of Easter. Parliament passed the Easter Act 1928, which proposed defining Easter as the Sunday after the second Saturday in April.

However, it was contingent on getting the agreement of all Christian denominations, so we still use the rules devised by Christopher Clavius for Pope Gregory XIII in the late 16th century.

Fascinating factoid: Under Clavius's rules, the date of Easter will repeat itself after a periond of 5,7000,000 years.|IP-ADDRESS|172.20.128.250|MODERATIONFLAG|
