VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Broga|DATE|1365602308|CONTENT|@Dave: I agree with your comment about the internet. One big change is that the usual censorship which has been used to block critical comments about religion is no longer possible. Also, sites such as biblical contradictions etc are available and reviews of best selling atheist books. And, of course, people have recourse to the estimable Platitude of the Day as well as The Freethinker site, Humanist sites and much else. One great benefit is the world wide reach of the internet.

I have friends in the USA who find the internet a wonderful antidote to the suffocating religiosity of much of small town America. And, as I learn from Dan Barker, the former evangelical preacher turned atheist, increasing numbers of clergy in the USA are preaching what they no longer believe because of the need to earn a living. They are also scared, literally, of the vengeful attitudes of family, friends and their parishes should they say what they really believe. Dan Barker's "Godless" is a brilliant antidote to religious belief and an insight into the mind of the fundamentalist believer. Whew! I'm starting to preach myself. Sorry. |EMAIL|denis.watkins12@btinternet.com|IP-ADDRESS|217.43.134.244|MODERATIONFLAG|
