VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Matt Westwood|DATE|1366548986|CONTENT|"Why would millions of people take the word of an unknown researcher making claims contradicted by every other source of medical advice - the same people providing healthcare in every other aspect of people's lives?"

Because it was in their daily newspaper.

Seriously. I know of people who believe every single word of what they read in their papers. Those papers tend to be the Sun, the Mirror, the Mail and the Express. People who read the Guardian, Telegraph and Independent, in contrast, tend to have a higher scepticism-to-trust ratio. (Irony alert) Those who read the Times, of course, are usually in a position to instruct the papers what to contain.
