VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Steve|DATE|1366822416|CONTENT|I agree with Matt W. Care and compassion should be prerequisites for nursing, and also I would hope for being a doctor. But that doesn't mean that we need highly qualified people to do basic jobs, nor that non-academic people are excluded from the job of making sure patients are properly fed and hydrated. Why would anyone think that changing bedsheets and managing a detailed and complex care routine are necessarily jobs for the same person?

Care and compassion should be an entry requirement for the NHS, for porters, consultants, managers, nurses, paramedics and cleaners. They all ultimately (should) share the same goal, which is a health service that looks after patient's needs. Our life in their hands, all of their hands. But from that point on, define the roles, then train and qualify people to suit them, and don't allow historical job definitions to get in the way in a rapidly changing health service.|IP-ADDRESS|86.168.105.248|MODERATIONFLAG|
