VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Stonyground|DATE|1367352813|CONTENT|It seems to me that WW1 was caused by the utter stupidity of the ruling classes of the time behaving like two neighbours fighting about a hedge. The way that the pecking order worked in those days meant that it was the duty of every male to line up behind whichever idiot he had been allotted to by fate.

"Did you know that 83,000 Sikhs fought in the two world wars?"

I know that being right in hindsight is very easy, but I would have been pretty impressed with the wisdom of these Gurus if 83,000 Sikhs had refused to fight in WW1.

WW2 was different in that there was a very real threat to our freedom from a very nasty ideology. Those who laid their lives on the line in order to oppose Nazism have every reason to be proud. Of course, we have to remember that WW2 was a direct result of the sanctions that were placed upon Germany after WW1.

The US learned from this with regard to Japan. As a result we got lots of hi-tech toys and better cars and motorbikes.|EMAIL|elizabeth@iww1967.wanadoo.co.uk|IP-ADDRESS|95.150.29.65|MODERATIONFLAG|
