VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Graham|DATE|1368432852|CONTENT|Does Giles not realise how risky it is to compare a work of fiction with what happens in the Bible, and to criticise people for worshipping 'false gods' instead of his 'real non-false' god?

A little off topic but did anyone catch The Morning Service yesterday? Our old friend Angie Tilby and chums drawing out the Christian messages to be found in Grimms' Fairy Tales. Snow White laid low by poisoned apple, prince rescues her and takes her to his home. See that prince? That's Jesus that is- leading her towards his heavenly father. Cinderella- same thing. The prince is really Jesus and when he carries her off to live happily ever after to live in his palace he's really taking her up into heaven.

There are many interpretations of Grimms' tales, a good number of which seem to revolve around underlying sexual themes, though obviously that would be too strong meat for the C of E. This superficial drivel was given prime time on a Sunday morning. As my partner said And from Oxford too. A world-class city bursting with intellectual talent and all the C of E can contribute 'ex cathedra' are weak attempts to claim that stories about princes and maidens are really about Jesus. Oh Angie, how could you be so nave?|IP-ADDRESS|95.149.9.46|MODERATIONFLAG|
