Yes but there were one or two interesting things in the news last night, including one right on Angie's door-step. Here's an opportunity for a senior member of our State church to offer us some spiritual insights into this atrocious and complex issue, and instead we get a nice 'think piece' which could have been spouted at any time.

A small point but it gets me apoplectic every time I hear it: there's no such thing as a Registry Office. It's a REGISTER office. REGISTER, not Registry. I know it's commonly mis-labelled but I would have expected someone 'in the trade' to get it right.

Having said all that I do agree that the expense of weddings is an issue. Friends of my mother's is still paying off the debt on their daughter's wedding even though she's now divorced. Sadly, having brought up the subject Angie has to pull her punches somewhat as "a pretty church" is a central part of many of these fantasy weddings.

I can highly recommend a minimalist REGISTER office wedding, having had one myself which resulted in a fruitful, exciting and supportive 35 year 'until death do us part' marriage. |IP-ADDRESS|95.149.10.35|MODERATIONFLAG|
