VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|The BBC|DATE|1369054806|CONTENT|@tim555 and the rest of you on this site who keep whining about the Thought for the Day slot and its contributors.

We give them space as it keeps influential people in Govt, Parliament and Society happy, which means they keep approving the licence fee.

Getting rid of religion from the BBC schedules or even moving the TFTD slot to a less intrusive time would provoke a disproportionate reaction from those who are capable of causing us personal and professional inconvenience and divert valuable management time from the vital task of running the best public broadcasting service in the world.

It's easier just to put up with a few minutes inanity each day.

We instruct the Today team not to question the TFTD contributors because any meaningful questioning would expose them to ridicule and soft questioning would expose the BBC to ridicule.

Isn't this obvious?

I think this site would better use its energies focusing on the wonderful job the BBC management team does despite being paid well below market rate for our stupendous talents.

And we would do an even better job if the licence fee were to be raised. For anyone reading this who has influence over such matters, I'm sure if it were we could find another 2 minutes on the Today programme and extend TFTD. Or how about an additional slot in the middle of The World At One, The Archers or even Match of the Day?|IP-ADDRESS|80.237.234.152|MODERATIONFLAG|
