VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Alun|DATE|1369422576|CONTENT|Saudi Arabia is rich, but I wouldn't look there for an enlightenment anytime soon. The LRA are despicable, and it is indubitably based on teachings in Christianity, but you have to search for an example like that. Several centuries ago you would not need to search, because christianity behaved despicably everywhere. You can find an example where people who are buddhists fight against people of another religion, but it is uncommon, and I have not heard them say they do it because of buddhism, other than the usual tribal thing of religion being a way to separate 'us' from 'them'.
You don't have to search for such examples in islam, they are plentiful enough. That is because it is where christianity was some centuries ago, and that is my point, it is overdue for its own Reformation.

It is very hard to have the opinion that islam has no part here, that is is just a coincidental factor. 'Oh look, those two guys were muslims. That's odd, so were the guys who tried to blow up Glasgow airport, so were the ones set off the tube bombs, so was the shoe bomber. Must be a coincidence. The next guy will be a Quaker for sure'.

We don't have to guess at the motives of those who so readily take the lives of innocent people, because they are very open about it. They do it in the name of islam. Is anyone really going to hold that the black guy in woolwich would have acted exactly the same if he had not converted to islam? The riots in Stockholm, in a country which is amongst the most civilized on the planet. Is anyone really surprised to find that the majority religion in those areas is islam? Islam has a problem, and my point is that it is no point in David Cameron making theological pronouncements about it, nor is there any point in having muslims say how much they disagree with these actions and roll out No True Scotsman. The thing that will make a difference is an islamic reformation.

And just in case I haven't made it clear enough in these posts, I am emphatically not saying 'all muslims are guilty' or somesuch EDL nonsense. I am saying that only muslims can solve this problem, because it is a problem with the belief system itself, and they are the only ones with the power to change it.|EMAIL|alunap@mac.com|IP-ADDRESS|86.137.215.54|MODERATIONFLAG|
