The bad news is, nearly half of the UK population will get cancer. The good news is, more and more of us will survive. Even this good news is bad news though. More people surviving cancer means more people having to deal with the aftermath and that means more cost to the NHS due to all these people selfishly staying alive.

Buddhism teaches us to face reality, not to turn away from it. Therefore, treat your cancer as a new experience. Enjoy your cancer. Look forward to the ghastly side-effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It's all just part of life's rich tapestry. After all, what's the worst that could happen? It won't do any good to worry about it or wish that this hadn't happened to you. It has happened to you, live with it, or perhaps more likely, die with it.

As more people live longer, we will all eventually have to face this. Isn't that something to look forward to? Just my way of cheering people up on a Saturday morning.
