VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Stonyground|DATE|1370804450|CONTENT|I suspect that the recently announced, and pessimistic, cancer stats are the result of the success that medical science has had in stopping us from dying of everything else. As Matt implies, something is going to get you if you keep on dodging illnesses for long enough.

At the age of 54, I have just been diagnosed with type one diabetes. Having used the NHS very little during my lifetime, I found my recent experience of it to be fairly positive. I'm lucky to have contracted the condition quite late in life and also in the 21st century when the treatments are so good. I'm having to inject myself several times a day, alter my diet a little and take more exercise. Ironically, I already feel better than I have in years. |EMAIL|elizabeth@iww1967.wanadoo.co.uk|IP-ADDRESS|95.150.32.116|MODERATIONFLAG|
