VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Graham|DATE|1372235667|CONTENT|Is it just old age or am I right in thinking this is the most incompetent government there's been in my lifetime? To set up nasty policies like this is bad enough, but not to even know whether they are producing the anticipated financial 'rewards' is sheer incompetence. They seem to be driven by two things 1) what will allow their mates to make profits and 2) populist knee-jerk reactions to what they imagine will satisfy the Daily Mail constituency.

One of the many sick details is forcing people in wheelchairs to come for assessments in centres which don't have wheelchair access. Incompetence tinged with sadism.

A friend of mine has been struggling on her own with a serious, and probably terminal, illness for the last three years. For her every penny counts and she's facing a 15 pw reduction in benefits as she has a 'second bedroom'. The house, and the individual rooms, are so tiny that a 'spare' room is not actually a luxury. If "spare" bedrooms are such a problem why not offer such people single bedroom homes and only consider fining them if they refuse to move? That of course would require some effort and expose the fact that the government can't ensure we have enough appropriate housing stock. This is just unthinkingly (?) punitive. Downright nasty.|IP-ADDRESS|95.149.12.189|MODERATIONFLAG|
