We're talking about unwarranted communication interception on an immense scale. Not only was he justified in revealing this, he had a moral duty to do so. Some things are more important than confidentiality agreements.

[blockquote]Bear in mind that all of the information in leaks cannot be rebutted and maybe most of it is true or some is misinformation. [/blockquote]

Much of it has already been confirmed by the US and UK governments. Even if it hadn't been, their determination to get Snowden behind bars speaks volumes. If there's anyone being gullible here it's those who think the security services don't need proper democratic supervision.

[blockquote]And, they want to believe because of some strange wish to cast America as always the bad guy. Bad compared to Russia and China, Huh?[/blockquote]

It's clearly escaped your notice, but Charlie, who raised the point, is actually American. Besides, no one is saying America is the bad guy, only that the libertarian instincts that many of us expected of President Obama, have been lacking in a large number of areas.

[blockquote]Bad compared to Russia and China, Huh? Will we also have racist expressions of moral relativism that dusky hued countries do bad things but they do not know any better so that is alright?[/blockquote]

I'd hardly describe Vladimir Putin as dusky hued. Both countries have a long history of autocratic systems of government. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that either of those countries monitored the private communications of their citizens. The security services in the USA and UK are supposed to get warrants before doing this to make sure that there is proper civilian oversight of their procedures. This clearly isn't happening.

As to your suggestions that I'm being racist, you bundle Russia and China and the "dusky hued" together; form a sentence from these words: pot, kettle, black.

[blockquote]Oh yes France is outraged at eavesdropping on diplomats et al but didn't mind blowing up a Greenpeace ship. [/blockquote]

Oh yes, clearly if I object to mass internet monitoring by the security services I must be in favour of the French secret service blowing up Greenpeace. Stands to reason, doesn't it.

Normally I just ignore your remarks Edwin, but when you accuse me of being gullible, anti-American, racist and in favour of the blowing up of the Greenpeace ship, all in one post, then I'm going to give as good as I get.|IP-ADDRESS|94.168.119.214|MODERATIONFLAG|
