VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Matt Westwood|DATE|1376481419|CONTENT|@Dinah: Glorified social workers - ultimately, that's all anybody ought to want their clergymen to be. I particularly feel the plight of clergymen (in particular Anglican, these are the ones who are able to elicit my sympathy, as the ones I've met have basically been pretty good eggs) who lose their faith through dint of their sanity-and-common-sense button becoming functional

They are in a position where they are actually able to do good (having basically entered the church because of a wish to be of service to their fellow men and women), and find that within the supportive structure of the established church they are able to make a positive difference to people's lives, but who can no longer take the ritual mumbo-jumbo seriously.

They may well stay within the church, living a lie, because they find it's the only way they can carry on doing what they really want to do, that is: do good deeds.|EMAIL|prime.mover@proofwiki.org|IP-ADDRESS|81.142.211.61|MODERATIONFLAG|
