VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Matt Westwood|DATE|1377675559|CONTENT|There's an itch here that hasn't been addressed in all the meaningless guff that's been spouted by opinion-mongers here there and everywhere on this damn radio station and beyond. Nobody seems to have the slightest idea of what they're talking about.

A university in (I believe) New York did an experiment. They chained a bicycle to a post of some kind (a signpost, I believe, it's not important) in the park. Then they got students to attach the chain with a hacksaw in full view of people passing by.

When the white male student was battling with the chain (deliberately ineffectually) passers-by asked him: is it your bike? Not yet, he'd reply. Okay, no worries, steady as she goes, and with a laugh and a joke they'd carry on passing by. During the course of about an hour, none of the many passers-by even questioned this guy's right to do what he was doing, even when he practically bragged that he was stealing the bike.

When the white female (pretty, blonde) student was battling with the chain, predictably, passers-by actually stopped to *help* her.

When the black student was battling with the chain, the first person that saw him challenged him angrily, the second one called the cops and the third one physically intercepted him and retrained him.

So you can take your complacency about how good it's got since MLK and shove it in with your pointless and ignorant platitudes.|EMAIL|prime.mover@proofwiki.org|IP-ADDRESS|81.142.211.61|MODERATIONFLAG|
