Yes, like the Bishop of Liverpool before me, I will soon be thinking for you, not as the Big Chief Rabbi, but as the Ex-Big Chief Rabbi.

Isn't Faith just fantastic? The Jewish Faith in particular is fantastic, but really any Faith will do. People of Faith do the most remarkable things, wonderful things, good things. You don't have to have Faith to do these things but it's so much easier to say that Faith is a Good Thing if you do have Faith and do these things.

Myself, and others, have survived great distress in their lives because they had Faith. People without Faith probably don't have any great distress in their lives or just crumple up and become pitiable heaps. Or possibly not, I don't know, I'm not going to talk about them. I want to talk about people of Faith and how great we are.

Jews have had Faith ever since a whole bunch of things that never happened, happened. We have Faith that one day the Messiah will arrive. Those who think the Messiah has already arrived need to be told that he's not the Messiah, he's... whatever.

Faith tells you why things are. I believe in the Invisible Magic Friend, therefore he exists. People with no Faith have no meaning in their lives.

And if it seems as if Faith is the source of so many of the world's problems then the answer is obvious: more Faith!
