VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Dinah|DATE|1383155278|CONTENT|The Great Uncle evidently thinks it is exceedingly enlightened for a school to teach pupils to respect other faiths by sticking up posters about them, learning about their beliefs and insisting no religion has the monopoly of truth. In fact, this should be a minimum requirement in a secular society. But what about issues of doubt, disbelief, rationalism and non-religious world views? A truly enlightened school would encourage pupils to engage in critical thinking about the claims of every religion, free from fear of being thought offensive or phobic. If supernatural claims do not stand up to critical scrutiny this should be admitted, not avoided in the name of some mind-fogging appeal to social cohesion or the politically-correct avoidance of awkward facts.|IP-ADDRESS|79.71.119.29|MODERATIONFLAG|
