Oh man, this is so depressing and also brings back many personal bad memories of my own.
I was injured at work in August 1989. The first surgeon tried to fuse the damaged vertebrae and unfortunately did not manage to correct the problem. After a year of therapy, he gave up and workers compensation took over. I had filed for Social Security disability as a lawyer told us to do. He also said having a disability lawyer was a must here in the US and in particular California where I was living at that time. Even though the insurance company was being rather nice, he told us that when it came time to settle, things would get nasty. The insurance company then sent me to various doctors of THEIR own choosing. None of them said I would ever be able to be employable any more. They all said more surgery was needed and even then, chronic pain was the likely outcome. It took from 1990 until 1994 for the approval for further surgery to be approved. It had been approved in 93 and then, the day before I was to go in for it, they cancelled for no reason we ever could figure. The last surgery, 94, did manage to correct the bulk of the damage and yes, chronic pain has been a constant companion since.
The settlement was a joke. The lawyer told us, be at his office at 9AM on the given day. We got there on time and he said he'd treat us to lunch on his tab as we would be done in no time. We did NOT get the deal finalized until 4:30 PM that day. Offer after counter offer was given, discussed and then redone over and over all day long, until they finally conceded. Their two "negotiators" had the gall to tell me that I was a "tough negotiator"! All I wanted was what was owed to me, not a penny more, nor a penny less.
The company was "Royal Insurance" and our lawyer told us a week later that he had information that yes, the "royal" family, aka; the Windsor clan, among them your Queen, do own a majority of that company. We took it as a minor back stab for having kicked them out of the "colonies" back in the 1770's.
Moral to this; DO get a decent lawyer/legal help for yours and Terry's claim. You can get help and even a measure of justice, but legal help is an absolute must.
I am so disgusted with what you two are having to go through. Thank you for this update. I have been thinking of you both since the last time you updated this mess you are dealing with. Wish I could do more to help you good people. |EMAIL|bear4751@gmail.com|IP-ADDRESS|173.217.203.199|MODERATIONFLAG|
