VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|charlie|DATE|1387123069|CONTENT|Peter,
In all honesty, we had a very good lawyer. He and his staff found we had been underpaid by the workers compensation insurance company 7 months before we finally settled. They got us the money within ten days after they told us this and they told us how much to expect in that check alone. If we did not get it within the 10 days, call him and he'd add additional penalties.
He was up front with us. Many in the US, it seems, this was in 1990 mind you, filed false claims and expected to get rich. He told us we best not think we'd be rich. I told him all I wanted was whatever was due to me, not a penny more, nor a penny less. After that, we got along fine.
Yes, it was very trying and we were lucky to get good advice. My best advice to you and Terry, don't give up, explore every avenue to get what is due to you both. It WILL get very frustrating, even if you think is already is, I'll bet it will get worse. I have no idea how this works in the UK, so your results may vary.
One word of caution, this may sound negative, but in my 66 years on this planet I have found it to be true; no matter how bad things are now, they can always get worse. Yes, it does sound negative, but be wary of "quick fixes" and hold out for real, honest settlement.
I do absolutely wish you and Terry the very, very best and my thoughts are with you both. I know first hand how very trying this mess can be and how the powers that be, insurance and government, do like to drag things out, hoping all the while that you both get so sick of the crap that you finally just give up and quit.
PLEASE, please, whatever you do, do NOT let the bastards beat you two into the dirt. Stand up for your rights and what is the decent thing for you both.
I just wish there was more that I could do for you and Terry other than give you my best wishes and any moral support I can offer. Please, you have my email, I will reply to any emails you wish to send. Of course the system in the UK and that here in the US are different, but we are all humans and we can use all the support we can give each other. Fell free to email me with your gripes, bitchings, or any thing at all. Being disabled, now officially retired, I do have time to reply and offer any moral aid.
One might ask, if this old heathen can be so bold, how is it "Christian" of the UK board to turn down your modest request. Assuming the UK, like many say the US is, a "Christian" country. C of E and all that.|EMAIL|bear4751@gmail.com|IP-ADDRESS|173.217.203.199|MODERATIONFLAG|
