VERSION|0.5.1|NAME|Dinah|DATE|1387927145|CONTENT|Does James Jones really think if he gathered all the religious crackpots, sorry, leaders together they could somehow bring about peace or at least a truce amongst warring religious extremists? Even if they truly desired harmony (and many of them wouldnt because they are extremists themselves) what he forgets is many of the fighters have been force-fed poisonous, perverted lies from the cradle. Their only schooling has been in madrassas where the education consists of learning the Koran off by heart. Are they likely to throw their weapons away because a so-called leader (whom they would regard as having sold out) tells them to?

For all the rhetoric, the West has yet to really confront the problem. It denies that the Islamists are real Muslims. It is rather like saying that the Crusaders and members of the Inquisition were not real Christians. They were only not real to those who disagreed with what they were doing. The trouble is, that we all have had it consistently drummed into our heads that religion is a good thing no matter what the evidence is to the contrary. We are told it is not the religious who are the problem, but the secularists, although I am not aware of any secularists becoming suicide bombers or massacring churchfuls of people. One of the worst things we can apparently do is fail to respect religious people and their beliefs, or, even worse, offend them. Well, perhaps if our democratically-elected leaders had not always been so ready to appease and excuse religious fascists, we might be in a better position than we are now.
